The skyscape and the hull texture were part of a different image. They worked rather well together, so I built a spaceship out of primitives and set it against the sky.

The stubby attitude jets (?) around the spaceship's hull are actually tori. The cockpit is a Booleaned ellipsoid with a second ellipsoid (with a glass material applied) inside it.
