Comments:

Sorry about the pun.

A chedi is a domed spire (usually built of brick and faced with plaster, sometimes decorated with ceramic fragments or tiles), found in Asian countries such as Laos and Thailand. The ones in this image are modelled on the chedis of Wat Phra Si Sanphet in Ayutthaya, Thailand, where I spent a happy morning sketching cross-sections. I'm still not sure I got the proportions right, and the representations are not exactly faithful.

The trees are standard Bryce trees; I'm not sure they work completely, but they make the image a little less dull.
