Church of Chumbawumba
Anarchist punk duo use the Web much as they use the stage - as a platform to present their views about politics, sex, drugs, football and more besides. "Nobody likes us - we don't care", but there are some good links here and some witty and perceptive editorials on such things as the Spice Girls and the late (over)lamented Diana Spencer. They even put up a full page (and my goodness, is it full) of all the bad reviews the band has ever had.
Jakob Nielsen's Site
Proof that you don't need graphics to make a site look good (although stylesheets help). Lots of good thoughts on Web design and the human-computer interface. And he bashes David Siegel, which confirms that he's on the side of the angels. (Although his netiquette leaves a little to be desired from time to time, if the story surrounding the Craig Shergold Hack is anything to go by)
Chank Diesel
That rare, rare thing - a site which tries hard to be cool, and actually succeeds. Hip, funny, and stylish. Chank is a designer, and the site offers some distinctive and well-designed freeware/shareware fonts for Windows and Macintosh.
These are former occupants of the Recent Hits list which have been carted off to moulder down here in the archives. I also have a list of permanent favourites. Inclusion of any site in either list does not constitute endorsement and all that jazz.
