HoverCraftLast updated: 08.05.2002 The 'hover' pseudo-class for the A element allows some surprisingly varied animation effects (in compatible browsers) using only plain text and stylesheets. No JavaScript and no images are required. This page demonstrates some of the possibilities. To see how they were done, use your browser's "View Source" feature.
Note that these effects won't work in browsers that don't support the 'hover' pseudo-class selector. More seriously, some of the effects will cause text to be laid out strangely on certain browsers: Netscape Communicator, for example, seems to have trouble with certain attributes including 'padding' and 'border-width', so if you don't want your pages to look horrible on Netscape browsers, you may wish to avoid effects that depend on use of these attributes. |
